2026 LLL Scholarship Winner

THE LIVE LIKE LUCAS FOUNDATION IS THRILLED TO ANNOUNCE

THE WINNER OF THE 2026 LIVE LIKE LUCAS SCHOLARSHIP!!!

GABRIEL GONZALEZ

The Live Like Lucas Foundation is proud to announce Gabriel Gonzalez as the recipient of the 2026 Live Like Lucas Foundation Scholarship.

Each year, the Foundation awards a scholarship to a graduating senior who has made a meaningful and lasting impact within the special needs community. This scholarship honors the life and legacy of Lucas Harrison, whose kindness, joy, compassion, and unconditional love touched everyone he met.

Gabriel embodies the spirit of this award.

Over the past four years at Seven Lakes High School, Gabriel has been an active member of the Best Buddies program, building genuine friendships with students in the special needs community. What began as a simple introduction to the program grew into life-changing relationships and a commitment to inclusion that has shaped who he is today.

Through these friendships, Gabriel demonstrated that true inclusion extends far beyond school-sponsored events. Whether attending activities together, sharing meals with family, participating in community events, or simply spending time together, he built relationships rooted in friendship, respect, and care. Even as he prepares to leave for college, he remains committed to maintaining these friendships and continuing to advocate for the special needs community.

Gabriel's impact was felt throughout the Seven Lakes community. His former Best Buddies sponsor and special education teacher described him as a young man who consistently showed patience, compassion, and kindness. She shared that he regularly visited students in her classroom simply because he cared, often bringing thoughtful gifts and creating connections that made students feel valued, included, and loved.

What stood out most in Gabriel's application was his humility. He wrote that while many people thanked him for his involvement, he felt the gratitude belonged to the special needs community for teaching him how to love more deeply and live with greater joy. That perspective captures the very essence of Lucas's legacy.

This fall, Gabriel will attend Louisiana State University (LSU). We are confident he will continue to make a positive impact on those around him and remain a strong advocate for inclusion wherever life takes him.

Congratulations, Gabriel Gonzalez, on being selected as the 2026 Live Like Lucas Foundation Scholarship recipient. We are honored to support your future and grateful for the positive impact you have made on so many lives.

Thank you for helping us continue Lucas's legacy of love, inclusion, kindness, and joy.
